Fake medicines aren’t just a distant problem — a 2022 report by WHO said nearly 1 in 10 medical products in low- and middle-income countries are substandard or falsified.
In India, numerous raids have revealed:
- Fake chemo drugs with no active ingredients
- Antibiotics sold without regulation
- Expired or relabelled painkillers
These silent threats not only delay recovery, but can cause new side effects and lead to even more deadly misdiagnosis
